Support Our Schools' Fund
Help us to enrich the lives of our current pupils
Our Schools' Fund enables us to direct your support to our area of greatest need, whether that is bursary support or helping us to enrich our educational experience for our current pupils.
It helps us to invest in a number of projects, year on year, which enhance and enrich the educational experience for our pupils. The strength of this giving programme lies in the number of gifts that are donated each year; we would therefore like to encourage the wider Foundation community to make a donation, regardless of how big or small the gift. The donations contribute to small, yet significant additions to the different areas of life within the schools, these projects are generally completed within a 12 month period and therefore bring immediate benefit to our current pupils.
Help us to enrich the lives of our current pupils
It takes just 100 people donating £10 each month with gift aid to raise £15,000 each year. This could be used in myriad ways, across all school activities to help enrich the lives of our pupils.
Your support will make a huge difference and every gift, whether large or small, will be honoured and recognised in an appropriate way.
Thank you in anticipation for your generosity.

Play YOUR PART by supporting our Bursary Fund
Support our Bursary Fund
Help us to provide transformative opportunities to those from families who can't afford us.
You can play your part in securing the future of the schools and maintain this broad access by supporting our Bursary Fund. Bursaries are based on financial need and are means tested.
Currently, one in six of our pupils benefits from financial support.
Would you be willing to help sponsor a pupil through their 7 years of senior school education? It is expected to cost around £120,000 to fund one pupil's place to the end of sixth form.
To make this a reality, we need the support of just 40 donors committing £25 each month, with gift aid.
Will you be one of them?
Your support will make a huge difference and every gift, whether large or small, will be honoured and recognised in an appropriate way.
We thank you in anticipation for your generosity.
A Wakefield Way Education
For generations, a Wakefield Way education has given bright young people from all backgrounds the opportunity to transform their lives forever. With the support of our community, we are committed to our founding ethos of "teaching, learning and bringing up children and youth in grammar and all good learning and to continue that use forever".
A Wakefield Way bursary can help to provide transformative opportunities to the children who come from families who would otherwise not be able to afford us. The impact of our supporters' generosity on our bursary recipients' lives is immense.
The Wakefield Way Bursary Fund will enable us to continue to invest in our Bursary programme which awards places at our schools based on academic merit and financial need, to deserving pupils from diverse backgrounds.
Following the withdrawal of the Government's Assisted Places Scheme in 1997, we remained committed to ensuring that such access remained through the introduction of means-tested bursary scheme, providing financial assistance known as Foundation Awards, enabling the Schools to remain accessible to pupils from low- income families. In the 25 years since, the Foundation's bursary scheme has enabled over 2,000 young people to benefit from a first class education that they would have been unable to access without such assistance, before making a positive impact on the world.
Support Pre-Prep
The Best Possible Foundation
At Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School, our aim is to introduce children to the joys of learning. We believe that every child brings their own unique talents and strengths into the classroom and we are here to bring them out, to build confidence in their natural abilities and to create strong, independent individuals who care about others, embrace new challenges and have a growing awareness of the world around them.
Leave us a Legacy
Helping children to discover their full potential, is a wonderful legacy
Pledging your legacy gift will cost you nothing today, but it will make an impact in the future.
Your generosity will help future generations of pupils to achieve their potential.
If you intend to include school in your Will or have already done so, we would very much like to be able to thank you for your generosity during your lifetime. Please complete the Legacy Pledge Form.
Your will could help in all kind of ways
If you have already made provision in your Will for our schools (QEGS and Wakefield Girls' High School are part of Wakefield Grammar School Foundation Registered Charity No: 1088415), please let us know, so we can thank you for your support.
Gifts left to us in your will may reduce any liability from Inheritance Tax and if you are considering making or amending your will to benefit our schools and would like to discuss it, our Development Director, will handle everything in the strictest confidence.

Giving from the USA
The British Schools and Universities Foundation (BSUF)
If you live in the USA, you can support our schools by making a tax efficient gift to BSUF.
Clicking the below button will take you to an external website, outside of our control.
Statement of Purposes and Policies of BSUF:
(1) British Schools and Universities Foundation, Inc. has been approved by the United States Treasury Department as an exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) and is classified as a domestic charity as defined in Sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)vi) of the Code. An important facet of tax deductibility is based upon the following ruling of the US Internal Revenue Service "Contributions to a domestic charity which are solicited for a specific project for a foreign charity organization, are deductible under the section 170 of the Code where the domestic charity has reviewed and approved the project as being in furtherance of its own exempt purposes and has control and discretion as to the use of the contributions"
(2) The purpose of the Foundation is to make donations, gifts and contributions out of the income and/or assets of the Corporation to, or for the use of schools whether public or private, colleges whether sectarian or not, universities whether State or not, and educational, scientific or literary institutions of every kind or nature;
(3) The Foundation applies three criteria to the selection of educational, scientific or literary institutions to qualify for grants-in-aid:
- The applicant institution should be active in seeking financial support for specific projects which are clearly defined and documented. Acceptability of these projects should be demonstrated by the efforts of its graduates, alumni and friends who compromise the institution's constituency in the United States.
- A non-American institution should have a demonstrable record of cooperation with the United States either by acceptance of American students or by collaboration with comparable institutions in the United States.
- The Foundation's grants-in-aid are limited to institutions in the United States and countries of the British Commonwealth of Nations.
USING YOUR DONATIONS RESPONSIBLY
We are privileged to receive the generous support of our QEGS, Wakefield Girls' High School and Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School communities and take our responsibilities in the stewardship and management of these gifts seriously:
- Every donation we receive goes directly to support the bursary scheme or to the purpose directed by the donor.
- All costs associated with the running of the Development Office are borne entirely by the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation.
- The bursary funds that are invested are managed with care by the Foundation's Governing Body's Investment Committee to ensure that investment returns are maximised whilst safely preserving the capital for the future.
- All bursaries are entirely means-tested and are awarded via a transparent and rigorous allocations process designed to ensure that financial support reaches those who are most deserving of it. This allocation process, which includes detailed financial checks and individual interviews, is reviewed and reassessed annually.
